Editorial excerpt
A low-cost Google model to trial, but plan for its introductory pricing to end.
Gemini 3.8 Flash is worth testing when keeping API costs down is a priority. Its current rates are introductory, so check Google's pricing page for when they end and build that into any longer-term budget. The independent results were measured at a high reasoning setting. Don't assume the Flash name means it will be fast in your setup, or that a low token price guarantees a low cost per finished task; measure both in your own workflow.
Editorial excerpt
A premium-priced OpenAI model, best used selectively and with a clear test budget.
Astra is a premium-priced OpenAI model for complicated reasoning and development work. At its published rates, the main question is whether it earns its cost, so measure that directly: run a small set of real tasks and compare usable results, follow-up work and total spend against a cheaper OpenAI model. The independent results were measured at its highest reasoning setting and say nothing about response speed, writing style or fit for every business task.
