Editorial excerpt
A low-cost Google model to trial, but plan for its introductory pricing to end.
Gemini 3.8 Flash is worth testing when keeping API costs down is a priority. Its current rates are introductory, so check Google's pricing page for when they end and build that into any longer-term budget. The independent results were measured at a high reasoning setting. Don't assume the Flash name means it will be fast in your setup, or that a low token price guarantees a low cost per finished task; measure both in your own workflow.
Editorial excerpt
A new Google reasoning model worth trialling for hard technical work, with launch pricing that needs a review date.
Gemini 4 Argon is worth adding to a shortlist for demanding technical work, such as complex coding or multi-step analysis, where a better answer saves real time. Its current API rates are introductory, so check Google's pricing page for when they change and budget for the standard rate rather than the launch price. The independent results were measured at a high reasoning setting, which may differ from your own configuration. As with any new release, test it on a few real tasks before moving important work across.
